Third General Meeting of the Spring Semester

CSULB SWE will be having its third general meeting on Tuesday, March 1st  at 12:30 in VEC 202.  Please feel free to come by as we go through the events of the semester including WE@BD (Women Engineers at the Beach Day).  Food will be provided and Prizes will be raffled at the end of the meeting!

CanStruction Orange County 4th annual construction competition

What: This meeting is designed to answer questions to anyone interested in becoming involved in a joint professional/collegiate team with other SWE members from Orange County.

Internships/ Research

2011 NSF - Science & Technology Center Undergraduate Internships


The NSF-STCs offer paid summer internships at most of our seventeen centers, located at prestigious universities around the United States.For more information visit: www.nsfstc.org.

PEER Research opportunity.  

The Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER) is pleased to offer unique opportunities for outstanding undergraduate students to participate in state-of-the-art research focused on the theme of Engineering Earthquake Resilient Communities.

Each participant will receive a stipend of $7,000, intended to cover summer housing and travel expenses to the summer project location. PEER will provide additional compensation for travel to an orientation workshop at UC Berkeley and to the 2011 PEER Annual Meeting in October.

The first application deadline is March 21, 2011 at 8:00 am Pacific Time. Application review will begin on March 22 and continue on a rolling basis until all internships are awarded. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by the March 21st deadline.


Scholarships  

SWE OC Scholarship

SWE-OC will award three Undergraduate Scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $750, and $500.  The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:

·        Open to women only

·        Student at:

   CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, UC Irvine, or UC Riverside

·        Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in an engineering field

·        GPA of 3.0 or higher

·        Plans to pursue a career in an engineering field

1. Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at CSULB.2.
Must be enrolled in 6 or more units.3. Must maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA.4.
Must be planning to attend CSULB for the following fall semester.
