    AIAA+SWE Bonfire

Join SWE and AIAA in our fall bonfire! Come enjoy the night with members from both clubs and find out more about our future activities. This is a great chance to get to know our officers and your fellow members. Bring your friends! Everyone is welcome. Food and refreshments will be provided.


    Preliminary Senior MESA Day

Saturday, Mar 12 8am - 2pm

Volunteer with SWE for the upcoming MESA Day festivals! This event aims to inspire young students to pursue careers in math, science and engineering through fun competitions. Volunteers will be needed to help set up, run the event, and clean up. If you’d like to participate with SWE for this event, let us know by emailing president@csulbswe.org or vicepresident@csulbswe.org.


    Engineering Girls at the Beach Day

Friday, Mar 18 7am - 3pm

SWE is having our annual outreach event, EG@BD, where we invite 150 elementary school girls to come on campus and introduce them to STEM through various workshops hosted by faculties. We are currently looking for volunteers to help make this event possible! Contact Ijya at outreach@csulbswe.org if you would like to be a part of this great event!

 Rube Goldberg Project Update

We have now started the building process! If you like to be creative and build stuff, it’s not too late to join in. The Rube Goldberg machine involves using common everyday things in an overly complicated arrangement in order to accomplish a simple task. The goal of the competition this year is to open an umbrella. The building process will kick off tomorrow, Wednesday March 2, from 2-3pm and will continue on Friday March 4 from 12-1pm at EN2 102.  Email La La for any questions or concerns at project.manager@csulbswe.org.


 SWE Gear

Get your SWE gear! If you missed the chance to pre-order our newly designed T-shirts, don’t worry! You can now buy your very own SWE-et shirts in our office at EN2 102 starting Wednesday March 2nd. It’s only $13 for SWE members and $15 for non-members. Come check them out!

    STARBASE 2.0 Mentoring Program


STARBASE is a Department of Defense youth program in need of engineering students to share their passion with underprivileged youth. Take this chance to work with young students on designing and building their own rocket that will be entered into the Team America Rocketry Challenge. Only minimal commitment required (a few hours every other Wednesday) and it’s a great opportunity to pump up your resume while giving back to the community! SWE currently have two open positions in our officer board: Fundraising Chair and AESB Representative. These positions are open to all members with a minimum of 2.5 in both cumulative and semester GPA. You must also have less than 100 undergraduate units to run.     SWE-SVC 2016 Scholarship

Applications for the Santa Clara Valley SWE scholarships are open for female students pursuing a BS or BA in engineering or computer science in the South San Francisco Bay Area. The recipient will be awarded $1,000 - $2,500 for tuition expenses. Applications are attached below and email secretary@csulbswe.org for more info/any questions.

Registration for SWE's joint regional conference is now open! Early registration fees will apply until January 10th. SWE conferences are excellent places to network and find potential employers. Applications for SWE scholarships are now open for sophomore through graduate student members. These range from $1,000 - $10,000 awards. Applications for freshmen scholarships will open in March. To apply, visit www.swe.org/scholarships.

Are you interested in doing undergraduate research or are curious to know what research is about? The NIH funded programs on campus (BUILD, MARC, and RISE) will be having an info session to talk about the programs and which could be the best for you. The session will also host talks by current upper division trainees who will share their experiences in each of their programs.

This is your formal invitation to our 3rd annual EWI. This is a networking and recruitment event intended to provide you with personal connections with industry professionals. Event consists of a keynote speaker, dinner with the company of your choice, and a discussion panel. Companies confirmed so far: Virgin Galactic and Tesoro, several more to come. If planning to attend you must RSVP ASAP HERE as space is limited and on a first come, first served basis.

The CSULB Homecoming Tailgate event will be in front of the Walter Pyramid this Saturday (Parking Lot 13). Get in tune with your school pride and attend the Homecoming game where our Men's Basketball team will play against BYU - Hawaii at 4:05pm. All students who attend will receive a free T-shirt! Online applications for PAID ($500/week) fellowships are now open. Fellowships are for aspiring K-12 STEM teachers and provide the opprortunity for each fellow to work at a national or university lab for 9 weeks to gain research experience while participating in education workshops and a Closing conference.
