    SWE-et Committee Meeting

FRI Nov 6th, 12:00 - 2:00pm | SWE Office (EN2 - 102)

SWE-et Committee will be meeting to work on promotional materials for Evening With Industry. This is a great way to get involved with SWE, as well as a way to get to know the industry members that will be attending the event. Meeting will last ~1-2hrs, so stop by whenever it is convenient to you. Email Membership@csulbswe.org for more info.


    LinkedIn Lab: Building Your LinkedIn Profile                  

MON Nov 9th, 1:00 - 2:30pm | USU 103

The Career Development Center (CDC) will be hosting a seminar on creating your LinkedIn profile; including do's & don'ts and tips on expanding your network. To attend you must RSVP through CareerLINK. They ask you bring a laptop or tablet and create an account before arrival. CLICK HERE to RSVP.


    Time & Stress Management Workshop                         

TUE Nov 10th, 12:00 - 1:00pm | Niggli Conference Room (ECS - 312)

The Office of Professional Development and Internships will be hosting a workshop on time and stress management. Learn new ways to use your time more effectively, as well as coping strategies to better manage stress during the semester and your everyday life.


    General Body Meeting #5                            

TUE Nov 10th, 1:30 - 2:30pm | ECS - 306

We will be hosting our 5th GBM featuring a guest speaker from STARBASE. This is a youth program by the Department of Defense seeking engineering students interested in motivating underprivileged youth to pursue STEM careers. Learn more about the program while enjoying some complimentary food and excellent company. See attached flyer for more info.


    Evening With Industry (EWI)                                        

FRI Nov 20th, 5:00 - 9:00pm | USU Ballrooms

This is your formal invitation to our 3rd annual EWI. This is a networking and recruitment event intended to provide you with personal connections with industry professionals. Event consists of a keynote speaker, dinner with the company of your choice, and a discussion panel. Companies confirmed so far: Virgin Galactic and Tesoro, several more to come. If planning to attend you must RSVP ASAP HERE as space is limited and on a first come, first served basis.


Cost:

  • SWE National Members: $5 ---- purchase tickets HERE
  • Non-members: $15 ---- purchase tickets HERE

Tickets purchased online must be picked up at SWE office (EN2 - 102). Attire: Business Professional. Bring resume!

     Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW)

FRI Oct 30th, 6:00 - 8:00pm | USC Viterbi School of Engineering


ESW is an environmental engineering club on campus that is looking for students interested in getting hands-on experience. They currently have 3 available projects. Everyone is welcome, however, they are really interested in finding Electrical Engineers to join their ranks. If interested, contact infomanager.eswcsulb@gmail.com.     STEM Teacher Researcher Program (STAR)

FRI Oct 30th, 6:00 - 8:00pm | USC Viterbi School of Engineering

Online applications for PAID ($500/week) fellowships are now open. Fellowships are for aspiring K-12 STEM teachers and provide the opprortunity for each fellow to work at a national or university lab for 9 weeks to gain research experience while participating in education workshops and a Closing conference.     Document to Record Lab Equipment Issues/ Concerns     

AESB will be speaking with the dean to express concerns over broken or outdated lab equipment. If you have noticed any particular issue or would like to voice a concern on this topic please submit a record to the following google form. These issues will be shared with the dean. Link is HERE.


    Nalco Info Session                       

AIChe will be hosting an info session by Nalco Company on FRI Nov 6th at 11am - 1pm in ECS - 302.

  • Green Energy Conference                       

IEEE is seeking volunteers for the Green Energy Conference which will be at the Pyramid on MON Nov 9th. They have 3 available shifts:

prep: 6-10am, during: 10-2pm, clean-up: 2-6pm. Contact Paul at oopaul93@gmail.com if interested

  • MAE outreach events                      

MAE hosts weekly Friday outreach events which caters to middle and high schools students visiting campus. Stop by MAE Office if interested.

  • SHPE's Spaceshpe Adventures
