Description:
Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas) considers students for internships from select universities nationwide to offer them hands-on experience and an inside look of what it's like to be a part of a Fortune 500 energy leader. Interns have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented utility professional around - solving real-life problems for our business and residential customers through CA. Many of our students chose to accept a full-time position at SoCal Gas when they are ready to graduate.

Locations:

General Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work at least 15-20 hours per week on a year-round basis
  • Solid understanding of fluid flow, piping systems and computer applications
  • Must be able to analyze significant amounts of data and develop multiple options  and scenarios in reaching decisions
  • Must be able to manage and implement multiple projects, as well as coordinate assigned activities and individual projects
  • Knowledge of project management software tools, PC operations, spreadsheets, CAD, mainframe, networks and MS Office

Description:
Provides assistance tot he Mechanical Engineering Department performing a wide range of administrative functions in support of documentation requirements for the electromechanical design of new and existing products, system components, packaging, tooling and the fabrication of product prototypes. Monitors project status and cost performance. Located in Irvine, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use AutoCAD software for 2D drawings and Solidworks 3D software for product design and documentation
  • Mechanical assembly of test fixtures and engineering prototypes
  • Assists in the preparation of project estimates, monitoring of project budget performance, and inputs to the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system
  • Participates in the review and implementation of administrative control and data management functions associated with engineering project tracking, engineering project task support, and component engineering support
  • May provide assistance in the coordination of engineering change orders for engineering projects/programs

We're looking for students who have an interest in working for our company after graduation and are ready to roll up their sleeves to show us they have what it takes. We believe we can learn from our interns and want to involve them in as many aspects of the company as possible. Our summer interns typically take on one large project and then help out with serval smaller projects throughout the summer. 

General Qualifications:

Sandia National Laboratories is the nation's premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation. We are a world-class team of scientists, engineers, technologists, post docs, and visiting researchers all focused on cutting-edge technology ranging from homeland defense, global security, biotechnology, and environmental preservation to energy and combustion research, computer security, and nuclear defense. The Enterprise Cyber Security Department works to secure computer networks and systems. Our group combines cyber security research and operations to solve critical national security problems. With a history of applying research to solve real world problems we address issues of trust and information as they relate to national security.

Center for Cyber Defender interns are involved in various aspects of cyber security research, including conducting science-based computer security research and developing new security tools. Interns will typically work on projects in two teams of two to four interns each over their 10-week internship. Projects are chosen based on student skill set and interest.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: cyber vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection systems and countermeasures, network protocols and monitoring, host forensics and memory forensics, malware analysis and triage, Android OS and mobile security, cloud security, network traffic analysis, and emulation of large-scale computer networks
  • Software development competence in at least one programming language: C/C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, Java or a related language
  • Working knowledge of the Linux operating system

OC Waste & Recycling owns and operates the Orange County landfill system. The engineering group is tasked with maintaining compliance with the standards set forth by the various regulatory agencies. The engineering group at each landfill provides engineering support services to the ongoing landfill operations, including drainage and erosion control; site grading designs; landfill gas collection system maintenance/expansion/monitoring; construction support service; groundwater sampling/monitoring; and various regulatory compliance monitoring, reporting, and remediation tasks. The engineering group at Headquarters provides regulatory and additional technical support for the landfills and prepares reports for the landfills and prepares reports for the regulatory agencies, in addition to a variety of other regulatory and legislative functions. `

  • Proficient in verbal communication/presentation and English writing skills
  • Strong organization, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of CAD and Civil3d is helpful, but not required
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite 2007
  • Experience in databases and graphics programs such as Photoshop
  • Ability to work on team projects and handle several assignments simultaneously
  • Physical agility for field assignments
