The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering. and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. Founded in 1950, SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career for women through an exciting array of training and development programs, networking opportunities, scholarships, outreach and advocacy activities, and much more.
CSULB SWE is a collegiate section of the national professional development organization Society of Women Engineers. At CSULB we are a registered on campus organization through the office of Student Life and Development (SLD) affiliated with the College of Engineering and Associated Engineering Student Body Collegiate Council. We hold regularly scheduled general body meetings, guest speakers, professional development events, networking events, and many outreach events. SWE Region B, also known as the Sonora Region, includes Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Utah, where our mascot is none other than the SWE Bee.
The Society of Women Engineers- Orange County is a professional section of SWE that is made up of women engineers living in Orange County. SWE-OC sponsors CSULB SWE by providing guidance and support, as well as putting on events thought the year.
Stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.
