Meet our Vice President, Tina Hayati!
Tina Hayati is a senior mechanical engineering student and the CSULB SWE FY21 Vice President. She started at SWE as AESB Rep in 2019 and the following year became Involvement Chair. Her favorite part about being involved in SWE is all the new people she meets and the impact she sees the club has on the youth.
Tina currently works as a Student Assistant for The Impact Group and interned for Siemens the past two summers. She loves everything water related and enjoys spending her free time learning how to surf and going to the beach with friends.
Why did you pick your major?
"Math and art have always been my favorite subjects. I joined a FIRST robotics team in high school and I got a passion for STEM. From that experience I decided to major in Mechanical engineering. "
Why are you in SWE?
"I joined SWE to make more connections on campus. Being a commuter I sometimes feel disconnected from events and happenings on campus. SWE has definitely helped me find a place here on campus and assisted me in navigating the resources our school has. "
What is your favorite course?
"I really enjoyed Intro to Mechanical engineering as we're able to do hands on projects. "
Advice for women in STEM:
"Do not be afraid to put yourself out there and never sell yourself short. Just because you don’t know something doesn't mean you do not have potential. "
