AESB Representative

Meet our AESB Representative, Bryan Flores!

Hi I'm Bryan Flores, this year's AESB Representative. I'm a 3rd year Electrical Engineering major, with a strong background in programming/coding. I did my best to get involved in SWE last year as a transfer student and this year I hope to participate and add to this great organization.

Why did you pick your major?

"I already have a previous Bachelors degree in Physics, but I didn't feel well equipped to go into industry. So after a while of self studying and programming I became interested in Digital Signal Processing because of its relation to technical math theory, programming implementations, and relation to music ( a passion of mine). I return to get my Bachelors in EE specifically for a focus in DSP. "

What is your favorite course?

"AS of now my favorite course has been Control Systems. It was very straightforward and the best example of applying differential equations to real life modeling. "

Why are you in SWE?

"I joined SWE last year and was surprised by how well organized and devoted the officers were. Each meeting was fun and enjoyable but also very professional. When I got to know everyone better I saw that it was an elite environment of diverse and amazing students. Including the many events that SWE puts on during the year I was just impressed and decided it was best for my academic and industry career to get involved as soon as possible. "

Advice for women in STEM:

"Simple. Don't change unless you think you need to. Take all the advice that you can but just be your version of exemplary. "
