Meet our AESB Representative, Khelynn Nou!
This summer, I was a part of a research internship program at USC studying perinatal biomechanics heath. I collected motion capture data and processed it through Qualisys and Visual 3D to extrapolate spatiotemporal data. In my free time, I enjoy watching soccer, going to the driving range, and finding new coffee shops!
Why did you pick your major?
"I picked Biomedical Engineering because I have always been interested in the Engineering and Medical field but could never decide between the two. When I discovered that CSULB offered a major that allowed me to learn about both, I could not resist it. This major combined the people and technical aspects of myself into one. "
What is your favorite course?
"My favorite course so far would have to be Chemistry. As difficult as it is, I have not been in a class where I have been that interested in the concepts that were being taught. "
Why are you in SWE?
"I am in SWE because it is a place where I am surrounded by other women studying similar areas in a field that is male dominated. SWE is an organization that helps me create connections and friendships with other people that are going through the same things as I am. "
Advice for women in STEM:
"Don't let anyone discourage you from doing what you want to do. The coursework may get difficult but always remind yourself the reason why you wanted to do what you are doing. Lastly, don't forget to set aside time for yourself and self care because little things will not matter in the long run compared to your personal health and well being. "
