Meet our Treasurer, Samantha Erb!

Hey everyone! My name is Sammie and I am a 4th year Chemical Engineering major with a minor in Chemistry. This past summer I had an internship in New York with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in the Large Scale Manufacturing Department. I learned a lot about the biotech industry and everything that goes into making medicines and treatments.

In my free time I love to hang out with my friends and play volleyball! I am also in a sorority, which I hold an officer position in, and this takes up a lot of my time as well. If you ever want to chat or learn more about me and SWE feel free to reach out!

Why did you pick your major?

"I picked chemical engineering

because I’ve always loved science, particularly chemistry, but I was also fascinated by all the career paths you could choose from as a Chemical Engineer. Particularly,

Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology is what I have chosen to pursue after graduation."

What is your favorite course?

"My favorite course so far has been and elective - Chem 301, Naturally Dangerous – because it was about naturally occurring compounds that we see every day and their safety. For example, are organic foods truly good for you? "

Why are you in SWE?

"I am in SWE because I felt it was important to be part of an organization on campus, and what better group than one that advocates and encourages women to become engineers! Plus, after meeting the members and officers, I knew this was a very welcoming and amazing group of students! "

Advice for women in STEM:

"I would say to not let anyone tell you that you can’t do something! Know your worth and prove everyone else wrong! "
