Meet our Fundraising Chair, Samantha Erb!
Why did you pick your major?
"My major is chemical engineering and I hope to one day get into the pharmaceutical industry. I chose my major because throughout the course of my life I've had many close family members and friends pass away from various illnesses, and I want to try to do anything I can to help prevent others from having to go through the same things."
What is your favorite course?
"My favorite course so far is my Chem 301 class. In this course we discuss the dangers of different everyday substances and how to determine if things are truly safe or not. It is very interesting and is set up in a discussion format, so it's a great way to hear everyone's ideas and opinions."
Why are you in SWE?
"I joined SWE in hopes to, of course, make some friends who have similar majors/interests as me, and to potentially expand my resume and build a network of industry professionals. I am also very passionate when it comes to getting women involved in STEM, so I love that our main focus is to try to get young girls out there interested and talking about a possible career in STEM."
Advice for women in STEM:
"A piece of advice I have for women in STEM is don't ever be intimidated by the men around you, use their presence as fuel to work harder. And, also, remember that it is okay to be wrong sometimes, we are all human and we all make mistakes."
