Meet our Membership Chair, Samantha Parreno!
Why did you pick your major?
"Believe or not, I used to be an art student. There was a bunch of things I wanted to make. So, I picked mechanical engineering because I wanted to make my imagination reality, and in order to that I had to learn about how things work. After I graduate, I'm definitely going to travel and see the world. After I come back, I hope to be in the product development field. "
What is your favorite course?
"My favorite class would have to be Solidworks. I took this in community college. I completed this requirement but I’m slightly salty I can’t take it again since it looks like CSULB Course goes more in-depth in Solidworks than my community college. "
What is a hardship you faced in your major?
Advice for women in STEM:
"My advice for women/young people in stem: don't lose sight of your goal. If it gets hard or tiring to the point of giving up, remind yourself why you picked this path. "
